THE 2ND ANNUAL BIG ASSIST TO BENEFIT OHHF
On July 14, 2010, the 2nd Annual Big Assist fundraiser was held at Terry Conners Rink in Stamford, CT. This year’s event was also a resounding success. Attendance doubled and Fairfield County hockey fans, young and old, were treated to an extravaganza of talent exhibited by the NHL, AHL, and current and former Division I/III college players. Among them were Darien Youth Hockey alums: Ryan Shannon of the Ottawa Senators and Stanley Cup Winner with the Anaheim Ducks, Jaime Sifers of the Atlanta Thrashers organization, and Hughie Jessiman of the Chicago Blackhawks organization. Most importantly, 100% of the proceeds from this event went to OHHF grantees.
The Owen Henderson-Howes Foundation wishes to thank Ryan Shannon and his father, Pat, for making The Big Assist possible for the second consecutive year. Bringing together some of the best players the sport of hockey has to offer, The Big Assist involves countless hours of preparation which Ryan and Pat so selflessly give. So, too, OHHF wishes to extend its thanks to those players, themselves, for it is their dedication of time and talent to charity that enables The Big Assist to be at all possible. Their commitment to making The Big Assist happen two years running is a testament to their support for Ryan and to their passion for “giving back” to the community.
